SPECIALIZED BIKES ARE DIGGING YOUR TRAILS

I got a call from my buddies at Specialized NZ the other day wanting to bring the local riding communities together in the form of a dig day in a few major riding centres. Well it's Wellington's turn on Sunday the 16th of October and everyone is invited. The plan is to get everyone involved. Riders, bike shops, families and friends. Specialized will organise some food, some tools and hopefully some bikes to try out. There'll be experienced trail builders on hand to guide you and it's a great opportunity to get involved if you've never really found a way to do it. All the info is on their facebook page and it's not just Wellington either so have a look.

DIG TO RIDE – GET INVOLVED

The dedication and volunteer work being done in local riding communities and clubs around New Zealand is nothing short of incredible.

Specialized wants to give back and support what’s happening out on the trails this Spring by encouraging riders to roll up their flannel sleeves and get digging.

In association with Trailfund and local riding clubs, Specialized are bringing together land-owners, bike retailers, craft breweries and riders at 4 Volunteer ‘Dig Days’ around the country.

Staff from Specialized, and local bike retail staff will be there digging on the days, as well as supporting volunteers with food, drinks, tools and maybe some bikes to ride afterwards.

The volunteer Dig Days are an opportunity for riders who want to get involved in helping out with trail building in their area, but just don’t know where to start, to get out and get amongst it.

The digging will be supervised by experienced local trail builders, so you don’t need to have a beard and a chainsaw to get amongst it. Riders of all levels are encouraged to come out, cut some new lines, earn some trail karma and have a hand in expanding your local network.

Some tools will be provided, but as it’s hard to know how many willing volunteers will turn up, if you do have a pick and shovel please bring them along.

Full details on each of the Dig Days can be found in the Facebook Event page links below.

Trails are always best enjoyed when you’ve worked your arse off for them.

Call your mates and lock a date into your calendar.

Register yourself as ‘GOING’ on the FB pages so Specialized and the crew on the ground can be ready for you.

I am so primed and ready. Let me at it.

The Warlord Battleaxe will be there too.
